Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Liberty Center Public Library is a non-profit organization, separate from the Library. It is comprised of individual members interested in books and other information sources and libraries.

The Friends offer invaluable assistance in the following areas:

  • source of community opinion in determining the community's library needs
  • focus public attention to the library's services, facilities, and needs
  • encourage the gifts of library material, desirable collections, endowments, scholarships and bequests to the library
  • work with the board of trustees and director on matters which relate to major development projects
  • sponsor programs and exhibits and promote library-sponsored activities and services
  • support library development and legislation
  • support the policies established by the board of trustees.

Activities of the Friends include annual used book sale, lasagna dinners, after school movie sponsor, author visits, library open houses, summer reading club sponsor. Proceeds from the
April 20, 2008 chicken BBQ dinner totaled $893.50.

Silent Auction December 6, 2008: The Friends of the L.C. Public Library would like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who donated items and offered a silent bid toward a gift basket. This first-time fund raiser earned $747.00 to help support our community library.

Some of the Friends' recent purchases for the library include four computers each loaded with 25 developmentally appropriate software programs in the children's area, a fax machine, a video projector, and additional die shapes.

The Friends of the Liberty Center Public Library meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the library's meeting room. Meetings are suspended for the months of November and December.

Membership is available for as little as $5.00 per year. Lifetime Members list. To become a member of the Friends of the Library, call 419-533-5721 or pick up a membership form at the library or print one at home.

The Friends of the Liberty Center Public Library is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. As such, depending on your situation, your contributions may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax adviser for details.
